Cartetto help
Cartetto adds a slide-out cart drawer to your Shopify store. Inside it, shoppers see their cart lines, a progress bar toward the goals you set (free shipping, a free gift or money off), upsells you choose, a discount-code field, an order note and the checkout button. The rewards are a Shopify discount that Cartetto creates, so what the bar promises is what checkout charges, in every market and currency. If the drawer can't open, shoppers get your theme's own cart. This page covers setup, every page and setting of the app, the questions merchants ask most, and what to do when something looks wrong.
What you need
- An online store with a theme: Online Store 2.0 themes and older ones both work, because Cartetto is an app embed, not blocks you place. See "Will it work with my theme?" below.
- Shopify's own checkout. Stores that send shoppers to a checkout outside Shopify, and headless stores, are not supported.
- Any Shopify plan. Cartetto's rewards and its gift check are Shopify Functions, which Shopify runs for App Store apps on every plan. PLACEHOLDER (live proof after install): the plans tested.
The Home page checks each setup step every time you open the app and says exactly what to do if something is missing.
Getting started
- Choose a plan. Starter or Pro, each with a 14-day free trial. Shopify bills it on your Shopify invoice.
- Turn on the app embed. On Home, Turn it on opens Shopify's theme editor with Cartetto's cart drawer embed ready: switch it on and press Save. Home reads from Shopify whether it is on in your live theme every time you open the app.
- Set your theme's cart type to Page. Your theme may have its own cart drawer; with two drawers, shoppers could see both. Home reads your live theme's setting and Open theme settings takes you there (in Horizon and Dawn: Theme settings > Cart > Cart type > Page). If your theme has no such setting, Home tells you to turn its own drawer off.
- Create your goal ladder. On Goals and gifts, Propose from my shipping rates reads your free-shipping rates and offers each one as a goal. Change any goal, add a gift or money off, and press Save.
- Preview, then go live. The preview on Drawer shows each cart state with your own products: one item below the goal, the goal reached with the gift added, the gift removed after a line was removed, a discount code applied and refused, lines from other apps (a deposit, a subscription, a nested add-on), long product names and an empty cart, at computer or phone width. When it looks right, press Go live on Home. Shoppers see nothing before that.
The drawer
When it opens. When a shopper adds to cart on a product page, clicks your theme's cart icon or a link to the cart, or clicks Cartetto's floating cart button (if you turn it on). On themes that announce cart changes the standard Shopify way (Horizon does), the drawer opens as soon as the theme's add to cart finishes; on other themes Cartetto watches for the theme's own add to cart.
What a cart line shows. The image, title and variant; the fields shoppers filled in (engraving, uploads and other line properties, except hidden ones whose names start with an underscore); the plan name and the amount due today on lines sold with a plan by another app (deposits, pre-orders, subscriptions, memberships); add-on lines indented under their product, with no remove button where Shopify says they can't be removed; the price before and after discounts, and each line discount by name; a quantity stepper (fixed at 1 on a gift) and remove. Changing the quantity keeps the line's fields.
The footer. A discount-code field (applied codes are listed with a remove button, and a refused or not applicable code says so in plain words), the order note (Shopify's cart note, which reaches the order), an optional "You save" line (what the cart's discounts take off), an optional terms checkbox, the subtotal, the checkout button and your store's payment icons. If your theme offers express checkout buttons (Shop Pay, Apple Pay and others) in its cart and you leave Express checkout buttons on, the drawer shows them too. PLACEHOLDER (live proof after install): confirm on Horizon and Dawn; otherwise say that they show on product pages and at checkout.
The terms checkbox keeps the drawer's checkout button off until it is ticked. It covers only that button: shoppers who use an express checkout button or a direct link to checkout don't see it. For terms that must cover every checkout, use Shopify's own checkout settings.
Where it never shows. Your password page, your theme's cart page, gift card pages, and the pages you list in Drawer > Pages without the drawer (a page also covers the pages under it).
What it never does. No timers that restart on reload: a countdown shows only when an offer really ends (a scheduled offer set on Pro, or a Shopify discount you pick with an end date). No invented stock, viewer counts or sales pop-ups. Nothing with a price is added without the shopper's click; the only line Cartetto adds by itself is a free gift, and only while the discount really makes it free (a gift that shows a price is taken out at once). No review requests, no fees (shipping protection, gift wrap) and no Cartetto branding in your store.
Design. On Drawer: the side, width on computers (phones always get the full width), colours, corner radius, image size and the order of the parts. Fonts come from your theme. Every text shoppers see is on Markets and languages. A CSS field is there for anything else (no markup and no files from other sites). There is no field for your own JavaScript or HTML.
Goals and free gifts
Goals. One ladder of up to 4 goals (Pro: up to 10 offer sets, each with its own ladder). Each goal is reached by cart value ("spend $50") or by item count ("buy 3 items"), each higher than the one before, and gives one reward: free shipping (the cheapest rate, every rate, or a rate you name), a free gift, or an amount or percentage off the order. When two goals give money off, the higher one replaces the lower one.
Free gifts. You pick the gift: one product, or up to 4 for the shopper to choose from, and whether the shopper may say no thanks. When the cart reaches the goal, the drawer adds the gift line, fixed at quantity 1, and Cartetto's discount makes exactly one unit of it free. When the cart drops below the goal (a line removed, a quantity lowered, a code added), the drawer takes the gift out. If the gift is out of stock, the next choice is added, or the drawer says the gift is gone; a gift is never sold on back order.
The gift check is always on: at checkout, Shopify refuses an order with a Cartetto gift that is no longer free, or (when goals count after discount codes) a cart whose codes took it below the gift's goal, and tells the shopper to remove the gift or add items. It catches carts that reach checkout without the drawer. It never stops a shopper adding to the cart. PLACEHOLDER (live proof after install): confirm with a 40% code on a gift cart that checkout refuses it.
What a goal counts. By default, the cart after discount codes, without the gift itself and without products another app marks as remote, in the shopper's currency. So a shopper who uses a 40% code must still reach the goal after the 40%. You can switch to "before discount codes"; the bar then says so.
Combining with your discounts. You choose whether the goals' rewards combine with product codes, order codes and shipping codes; the page gives an example for each. By default they don't combine with order codes. When they don't combine, Shopify gives the shopper whichever is worth more.
Shopify's limit on automatic discounts. A store can have 25 automatic discounts active. Cartetto uses one of them for all its goals, gifts and upsell discounts, on both plans. PLACEHOLDER (live proof after install): confirm one discount carries product, order and shipping rewards together. If you also use other apps that make discounts, such as Acconto or Tessetto, each uses its own.
Very large carts. Shopify gives each discount a fixed amount of work per cart. Cartetto's rewards fit carts of at least 80 different lines with every line discounted, and 140 without upsell discounts; free shipping and the gift check fit 200. In a larger cart the gift check still refuses a gift that isn't free, so no shopper pays for one unknowingly.
Upsells
On Upsells. Add products and the rule for each: always, or when the cart contains chosen products, variants or a product from chosen collections, or when the cart value or item count is in a range. Cartetto never offers what is already in the cart or sold out, and shows at most the number you set (3 by default). Places left are filled with Shopify's recommendations for the products in the cart, if you turn them on: the complementary products you set in Shopify's free Search & Discovery app and the related products Shopify works out. Layouts: a row to scroll, a list, or one card under the line that triggered it; each card has a variant picker.
Upsell discounts. Optionally take an amount or a percentage off the upsold product while its rule holds. The discount applies wherever the product is added, in the drawer or on its product page. Shopify's recommendations have no Cartetto discount.
Subscribe option. If another app already offers a subscription plan on a product, the drawer can show a link that switches that line to the plan, with the plan's name. Cartetto never creates subscription plans.
Only the shopper's click adds an upsell.
Markets and languages
On Goals and gifts, give a goal its own amount for a market, in that market's currency, or let it follow your store currency at Shopify's rate, rounded the way checkout rounds. A market you add later uses the converted amount until you set its own. On Markets and languages, every text shoppers see has a built-in version in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch, and you can write your own for each language your store publishes. Texts use placeholders like {remaining} for amounts, so you never type a price by hand.
Results and the holdout
On Results: orders through Cartetto, their revenue less refunds, revenue from upsells added in the drawer, and gifts given; for each upsell and gift tier, how often it was shown, added and bought, and the revenue. Orders are read from Shopify; carts, shown and added counts come from Cartetto's web pixel, which counts only shoppers who allowed it in your store's cookie settings, so those counts are partial while revenue is complete. The page says so.
The holdout gives a share of carts your theme's own cart instead of the drawer (10% by default; 0 to 50%). Goal discounts still apply to both groups, so the comparison measures the drawer, the bar and the upsells. Results compare average order value, revenue per cart and the share of carts that became orders, each with a 95% range. Until each group has 100 orders it says "Not enough orders yet" instead of a number. Each cart's group is worked out from the cart itself and written to the cart: nothing is stored in the shopper's browser.

Staff
Cartetto works with your store's own connection to Shopify, so every staff member you allow to use it (Settings > Users in your Shopify admin) sees and changes the same settings. If two people save the same page at once, the second is told to reload instead of undoing the first.
Plans and billing
- Starter, $12.99 a month: one goal ladder and one set of upsells for the whole store, every drawer feature, per-market goals and texts, results and the holdout.
- Pro, $19.99 a month: everything in Starter, plus up to 10 offer sets by market, schedules (offers that start and end at set times, for example a weekend sale), an A/B test of two offer sets, and settings export and import between stores. Priority support.
- Any number of orders on both plans, no usage charges and no fees on your sales. Billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice.
- Each store gets one 14-day free trial; reinstalling continues the same trial.
- Downgrading to Starter: your first offer set stays live, store-wide; the others and their schedules stop, and an A/B test ends with its results kept. The other sets are kept for when you come back to Pro.
- To cancel, uninstall the app (Settings, Apps, Cartetto, Uninstall). Shopify stops billing at once.
Frequently asked questions
Will it work with my theme? Cartetto runs as an app embed, so it needs no theme code changes and works on Online Store 2.0 and older themes. Set your theme's cart type to Page so shoppers see one drawer, and check the preview before going live. PLACEHOLDER (live proof after install): the themes tested.
Does it slow my store down? The part that loads with each page is about 2 KB, the rest loads when the drawer first opens, and it uses your theme's fonts and no images from our server. The drawer never waits on our server.
What happens if Cartetto has a problem? If the drawer can't open within a second and a half, the click goes on to your theme's cart page, and the shopper checks out as usual. Errors are never shown to shoppers.
Can a shopper get a free gift with a big discount code? Not by default: the goal counts the cart after codes, the drawer takes the gift out, and the gift check refuses it at checkout. If you switch to "before discount codes", the bar says so.
What if a shopper buys with Shop Pay from the product page? That skips the cart. Goal discounts and free shipping still apply at checkout, but no gift line was added, so there is no gift.
Does it work with Acconto, Tessetto and subscription apps? Yes. Lines sold with a plan show the plan name and the amount due today, and Cartetto never changes them. Each app's discounts are its own.
Does Cartetto email my customers? No. Cartetto sends no emails at all.
What happens if my trial or plan ends? The drawer stops showing at once and your theme's cart returns. Gifts already in carts stay free for 72 hours while the cart still meets the goal; then Cartetto turns its discount off, and the gift check asks shoppers to remove a gift that is no longer free. Your settings and results are kept until you uninstall. Choose a plan on the Plan page to turn everything back on.
I changed Cartetto's discount in Shopify's Discounts page. What now? Home says what changed (deleted, turned off, or its combinations changed) and offers Restore it. Cartetto never undoes your change without that click.
What happens when I uninstall? See "Uninstalling" below. Your plan and your access end at once and Shopify stops billing for Cartetto; fees already billed are refunded only as our Terms (section 4) say. Shopify asks us to delete your store's data 48 hours later, and we do, within 30 days.
When something looks wrong
- Open the preview on Drawer with the same kind of cart: it draws what the drawer shows.
- Open Help in the app and copy the summary for support.
- Email support@nolarine.com with the summary and what you expected to happen. We reply within one business day (the same business day on Pro).
What support covers: setting Cartetto up, how each page and setting works, styling the drawer to match your theme, anything Cartetto does wrong (we fix it), your data and data requests, and moving to another plan. What it doesn't cover: changes to your theme's code, setting up other apps, your payment provider and payment disputes, and legal or tax advice about your offers (we can say what Cartetto does; you decide what your store needs).
If we need to look inside your store: we only ask when we can't see a problem any other way, and only with your yes. Shopify sends you a collaborator request from Nolarine with the fewest permissions the problem needs (usually Apps, Themes and Products; orders only when the problem is there, and we say why). You approve it in Settings > Users. We look only at what the problem needs, change nothing without asking, and remove our access when the problem is solved and tell you so; you can remove it yourself at any time in Settings > Users.
Uninstalling
Open Before you uninstall (linked from Home and Plan) first. It explains two things:
- Gifts in open carts. When Cartetto goes, so does its discount, and a gift line already in a shopper's cart would then show its normal price at checkout. Remove your gift goals first and wait a day, so the drawer takes gift lines out of carts while shoppers are on your store.
- Your theme's cart. If you set your theme's cart type to Page during setup and want your theme's own drawer back, Open theme settings takes you there.
When you uninstall, the drawer, its app embed, the discount and the gift check go with the app; nothing is left in your theme's code. What stays in your store: the order notes shoppers wrote, and Cartetto's hidden order details on past orders (the "_cartetto" attribute and the "_cartetto_gift" property on gift lines). Uninstalling ends your access to the app and cancels your plan at once (Shopify stops billing). 48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify tells us to delete your store's data, and we do, within 30 days.
Accessibility
The admin uses Shopify's own components, and the drawer uses your theme's fonts and the colours you choose. We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA on the admin pages, the drawer and this website (this website last checked 14 October 2026 with axe; the drawer and admin: PLACEHOLDER date, step 12). The drawer is a dialog that can be opened, used and closed with a keyboard (Escape closes it), keeps focus inside while open, and returns focus to where the shopper was. Known limits: right-to-left languages are not supported, and the admin has not been tested with a screen reader. If something doesn't work for you or your shoppers with assistive technology, email support@nolarine.com: we treat it as a bug.
